The Torreño City Council provides free Wi-Fi zones in the Parque de la Constitución and the Casa de la Cultura This proposal arises from the proposals of Torreño students participating in the participatory budgeting process 2018/19 (26/07/2018)

The City of Las Torres de Cotillas has launched two free wifi zones in the Parque de la Constitución and the House of Culture 'Pedro Serna'.

"The connection is possible from any mobile device and can be done automatically, without the need to register as a user or passwords, with the speed set by law," says the mayor, Isabel María Zapata, who personally checked the utilities of this tool in the Parque de la Constitución.

This initiative arises from the proposals of the 587 students of Secondary, Baccalaureate and Formative Cycles of the municipality participating in the process of participatory budgets 2018/19.

This campaign focused on the schools in the municipality and young people chose free film sessions in public spaces, which have already been launched this summer in the municipal auditorium 'Juan Baño' with the cycle 'Las Torres es cine';

a foam party with inflatable slide, which will be held during the next patron saint festivities at the end of August;

and the creation of these free wifi zones.

"For the next year, the chosen proposals, out of a total of 46 that passed the technical filter, were a 'Holi Run' festival and a reggaeton and trap festival," explains Zapata.

Greater transparency and efficiency

"The participatory budgets, whose process obtained among our students an average score of 8'06, have to give greater transparency and efficiency to our management of public resources," says the Councilor for Finance, Ángel González, who points out that this is how Follow the path established by the strategy 'Las Torres 2025 Come and Stay'. "This initiative collected ideas and proposals from citizens, concessionary companies, businessmen, merchants, cultural, political and social agents of the municipality for months," says González. which stresses that "it was a very enriching process".

In the participatory budgeting process, the Torreño City Council is counting on the collaboration of the Council of Transparency of the Region of Murcia (CTRM) and the University of Murcia.
