Students of 2nd ESO of IES'La Florida 'of Las Torres de Cotillas will compete in the final of the contest' Science in Action 2018 ', to be held in the Barcelona town of Viladecans from 5 to 7 October.
And they will do so in the modality 'Mathematical Laboratory' thanks to the work 'Buscando a Pitágoras', a set of activities organized around the findings of the well-known mathematician.
"This competition has Spain, Portugal and Latin American countries, and is aimed at professors, researchers and science disseminators, as well as anyone interested in teaching science", explains the mayor of Torrena, Isabel María Zapata, who visited last week to the young students accompanied by the general director of Educational Centers, Remedios Lajara.
Both were interested in the project, directed by the professor of the department of mathematics Iria Vidal, and wished them luck in the last round of this important educational contest.
The final, in Viladecans
In order to defend the project in the grand final, a representation of the students of the group will travel, accompanied by two teachers from the center.
"The City Council will pay for the bus to move to Catalan lands and from the Ministry of Education works to try to pay for other items of the trip," says Zapata.
The contest is organized, among others, by the Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC), the Royal Spanish Society of Chemistry (RSEQ), the Institute of Mathematical Sciences (ICMAT) and the National University of Distance Education (UNED).
