The European project 'DoUSport', in which the Town Hall of Las Torres de Cotillas has participated, has already come to an end.
The main objective of this initiative was to explore the role of local authorities in the development of sport as an activity for all, free of barriers, that promotes an active and healthy lifestyle.
In this proposal, which began in January 2017, the Torreño Consistory collaborated with the municipalities of Tábua (Portugal) and Mielec (Poland).
The culmination took place in the Portuguese town, where participants in this initiative met to participate in a conference in which the final results of the project were collected.
Torrena expedition was commanded by the Councilor for Physical Activity and Sports, Ginés Pérez, who stresses that "this type of projects serves to unite and bring the people closer, and continue to grow in the whole of Europe."

The 'DoUSport' was designed as a pioneering, innovative and inclusive community initiative.
"With him we have shared experiences, activities and different approaches and ways of thinking to keep improving in terms of sports promotion," says the councilman, who picked up on the last night of his stay in Portugal a distinction for the participation of the Torreño City Council.
From this project is born a final document of strategies and recommendations that will serve as a guide to other local administrations to develop similar ones.
"Any proposal that follows the orientation of this initiative will be based on the promotion of physical activity among citizens as a basis for a healthier lifestyle," says Pérez.
A lot of activity in the municipality
Within the framework of this project, twelve free, inclusive, varied, attractive, motivating and non-competitive sports events were held in Las Torres de Cotillas, whose objective was to enjoy with the family and transmit healthy habits: water games, bioenergetic movement , kite flying, multi-adventure, dance, sports on wheels and racket, street sports, hiking and an urban gymkhana.
"In addition, the contest 'I do sport' was developed, where you had to participate in at least 10 of the proposed activities and had as a prize the trip to Portugal with all expenses paid," says the mayor, recalling that the winners They were Pedro Joaquín Fernández and Ángel Jesús Olmos.
Some activities that involved the involvement of all local agents and that showed some outstanding numbers, with 1,124 people attached to the project and 1,709 assistants.
"We are very satisfied with the high participation we have had with this project and the satisfaction of the attendees," says the mayor, Isabel María Zapata, who recalls that the European Commission has been demanding that administrations take immediate and priority action with preventive programs to reduce child sedentary lifestyle and childhood obesity.
