The reinforcement of the actions in the neighborhood of Carmen continues to produce positive results (14/12/2018)

The set of actions to reinforce safety, employment, cleaning and social services launched a few weeks ago by the City of Las Torres de Cotillas in the neighborhood of Carmen continues to produce positive results.

"The neighbors transferred us the problems they had and we got down to work to increase the municipal interventions that could solve those situations," explains the mayor, Isabel María Zapata, who this morning chaired the periodic meeting of evaluation of the work team that coordinates these actions.

On the one hand, the presence of local police and Civil Guard troops was reinforced, tripling the number of patrols, carrying out joint controls and including the daily identification of people and vehicles in the neighborhood.

On the other hand, the police presence at the entrance and exit of the IES 'La Florida' has been accentuated, where security cameras have been placed to control the environment.

"It has also increased the presence of the canine unit, which already accumulates various detections of drugs with their corresponding action," says the councilman of Police and Civil Protection, Pedro José Noguera, also present at the meeting.

Assistance program

In addition, from the municipal service of Social Services a program has been launched in which once a week assistance is being provided in the neighborhood center of the Carmen neighborhood.

"A social worker, a youth technician and a counselor of the Youth Guarantee program go every Monday to offer service to the residents of Carmen," says the councilor of the area, María Dolores Sánchez, who has also participated in this meeting.

Also, with the increase in vigilance is also achieving greater cleanliness in the streets of the area.

"This greater control is producing that it increases the civic conscience of the neighbors of all the ages and no longer it is so much dirt in the public thoroughfare", declares the mayoress.

Investment of 800,000 euros

Zapata also wanted to remember that the Carmen neighborhood will receive an investment injection of 800,000 euros thanks to the Integrated Sustainable Urban Development Strategy (EDUSI) 'Las Torres Conecta' of the Torreño City Council.

"They will be allocated to a plan for urban regeneration and social and labor integration, in addition to the construction of a neighborhood center," explains Zapata.

An initiative that has a grant of 5 million euros granted by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), to which 1,250,000 euros of municipal funds will be added.
