The auroros torreños: the voices of the soul of Murcia (18/04/2019)

They say the experts in the matter that the oldest musical notes of the song of the Aurora Murcia must be looked for in the VIth century when our Region was dominated by the emperors of Byzantium.

With this pedigree, it is no less surprising to consider the art that the gangs sing as the one with the deepest tradition and history of our land, an indelible stamp of identity after centuries of vicissitudes and episodes of all laya that occurred in this site of the Spanish Southeast.

No Murcian self-respecting as such is not alien to that rich cast of Brotherhoods of Auroros in the garden and in many of the region's towns since the sixteenth century abound and continue to abound today thanks to the determination, drive and tenacity of institutions and public and private entities as individuals who have managed to resuscitate, revive and put in value in recent times these groups that condense not only the musical essence but also the spirit of Christian fraternity and the flavor of Murcia

Example of that illusion, of that dream returned to make reality is the one of the Bell of Auroros of Our Lady of the Rosary of the Towers of Cotillas that, stopping in the way of its existence in the middle of the 40s of the last century, it has resurged with strength and power from the hand of an enthusiastic group of neighbors who, to the interpretive quality of their voices, unite the values of faith, of devotion within the framework of an extensive repertoire of intoned pieces that comprise from the Salves of Passion intoned in the parades of these days of Holy Week, Ordinary, Souls and Christmas to those couplets of eagle, masses of joy and correlative as a sounding board of feelings, of the human soul that run at the rhythm of bells, guitars, bandurrias, tambourines and cymbals in the twists and turns of the solemn, the deep, existential, happy, festive and divine, all in an apotheosistic show of timbres, voices, strings, stanzas, refrains,

zos, ...

Under the sacred protection of temples, hermitages, cemeteries or the most profane festeros meetings of cuadrillas, of not a few points of the Murcian geography and beyond (Andalusia, Aragon, Valencian Community, ...) since 2011 it is sounding again the Bell of Auroros of Our Lady of the Rosary, creating school and continuity under one of the Marian invocations of greater tradition and monitoring of the locality.

The rebirth of the Torrena Aurora means putting once again into force in the historical course of the Villa a precious piece of its varied and great heritage not only cultural but also human, anthropological and, therefore, identity of the personality of a municipality of the Vega Media that knows how to combine tradition and modernity.

The reappearance to the public scene of the Bell of Auroros of Our Lady of the Rosary of Las Torres de Cotillas is an act of justice, in short, to the Region to return to our land Murcia a remarkable part of his popular songbook of religious roots whose primordial merit lies in being a tradition transmitted orally, from generation to generation, through the walk of the centuries.

In this persistent desire to "recover the tradition and songs of our garden as well as to stimulate and promote knowledge and respect for our cultural roots wherever our voices and ways reach", as their statutes say, our auroros torreños have been invited even by the Association of Nazarenes of the Region to participate in some days of presentation of the Holy Week in Murcia that took place in the Hall of Acts of the Almudí Palace of the capital of the stage, scene in which the local bell sang the "Salve Virgen Dolorosa", a Piece of the passion of local exclusive roots happily recovered thanks to the collaboration and the memory of neighbors of the Villa and that reads as follows:

"There will be no Mother with more grief

neither woman with more pain,

how many times did he repeat:

Son of my heart!

Oh, son of my bowels,

the mother who bore you

sees you between two thieves

as if you were a thief ... "

In, sum, it is a pride for the torreños of good that the voice of the soul of a town is still alive.

So be it for a long time.
