The municipal library "Rosa Contreras" of Las Torres de Cotillas has been distinguished in the "XVII Maria Moliner Awards" - awarded by the Secretary of State for Culture - for its animation project to read "Open your eyes and listen".
"These awards are given to the best initiatives for the promotion of reading developed by municipal libraries of localities of less than 50,000 inhabitants," explains Councilor for Culture, Pedro Cabrera.
"Our project consisted of the planning and development of activities in these municipal facilities with the clear objective of encouraging reading and the use of the library, especially among the children's audience," the mayor adds.
The Torreña library project - housed in the Casa de la Cultura "Pedro Serna" - has been chosen from 605 submitted to this year's edition, of which the 300 best reading promotion programs have been selected.
In this selection we have analyzed several criteria, valuing the clarity and interest of the project for reading animation, good planning and feasibility, as well as the originality and immersion in new technologies of the different proposals.
"The selected libraries will receive as a prize a batch of about 150 titles financed by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport," says Cabrera.
