María Ángeles Blanco, a 2 nd high school student from IES 'La Florida' in Las Torres de Cotillas, was proclaimed champion on Friday, March 3, of the 'VII Olympiad of Geography' in the Region of Murcia.
With this victory the turret will defend the Murcian flag in the national phase, to be held on 24 and 25 March in Santiago de Compostela and which will be accompanied by the professor of geography and head of studies of the Torreño center, Juan Manuel Casanova.
But the good results for the IES 'La Florida' do not end here, as two of his students finished in the top seven: Andrés Fernández third (who will also go to the national phase) and seventh finished Pedro Blaya.
This championship, held in the University Social Center of the University of Murcia, was organized by the College of Geographers of Spain.
"It is a satisfaction that students of our municipality, to whom we want to send them the congratulations of the City Council and its neighbors, stand out in this way for their knowledge," says Councilor for Education, Pedro Cabrera.
