'Las Chiriwoman' is imposed in the first edition of the Chirigota contest of Las Torres de Cotillas Carnival (16/02/2018)

The chirigota 'Las Chiriwoman' of Caravaca de la Cruz rose on Thursday night February 15 as the winner of the 'I Contest of Chirigotas de Carnaval' of Las Torres de Cotillas.

With a House of Culture 'Pedro Serna' filled to the flag the caravaqueña group -integrated only by women- won the first prize with the show 'Vamos de tiendas!', Valued at 1,000 euros, while the 'Chirigota' Caravaca Chirigotín 'also from Caravaca de la Cruz - with' The echaos pa'lante'- took the second place and a reward of 500 euros.

Third was the chirigota Cabezo de Torres (with 'We are independent'), which received the corresponding diploma for their participation.

"One of the novelties of our Carnival was this contest, which we created because for years the chirigotas have a special role playing in the evening of the proclamations and making the audience laugh that always fills the House of Culture", explains the mayor Isabel María Zapata, who presented her prize to the winners.

The councilor recalled that both chirigotas will act tonight during the reading gala of the proclamation of Carnival that will offer the nursery school 'Soletes' - in the voice of Toñi Jiménez - on the same stage.

Everyone to parade

And arrived at the weekend will be the time for hundreds of people parade through the streets of the municipality, volcandosu imagination, talent and all their desire to have fun.

Tomorrow, Saturday, February 17 (17 hours) will be the adult parade, whose route will depart from Juan Carlos I Avenue and will arrive at the Ermita de la Cruz.

"Participate about 30 groups, all of our people," says the councilman of Celebrations.

For its part, the other novelty this year -the children's parade- will take place on Sunday, February 18 (12 hours), with the same starting point, but with arrival at Mula street.

"All the parades of the town are a great representation of the social and cultural life of the municipality, and an example of how are Torreños: cheerful, lively, smiling and very inventive," says the council.

To close the celebrations, from 4:00 pm there will be inflatable attractions for children in the Esplanade Maestro Don Ángel Palazón.
