The "Gag Law" reaches the Town Hall of Las Torres de Cotillas (23/02/2018)

PSOE, Citizens and Change The Towers denounce the forms exhibited by the mayor, of the PP, at the time of taking to Plenary, for its approval, the new Municipal Organic Regulation.

Isabel María Zapata, declared in her inauguration speech, last December, that her mandate would be presided over by consensus, "when the only consensus that is really evident is that the Popular Party has reached with the councilor María Ángeles García , which sustains his government. "

This is a totally restrictive regulation for opposition groups, which limits the freedom of action of these and, at the same time, rewards the councilor "not ascribed", which, just a month ago, led to his abstention that the municipal councilor increase his salary from 28,400 to 48,000 euros per year.

The spokesmen of three political groups, Antonio Peñas, of the PSOE;

María Ángeles Fernández, from Ciudadanos, and Cristóbal Vicente, from Cambio Las Torres, have considered that there is no justification for making such severe changes when organizing a plenary session, where until now there has not been any type of conflict and that they have had a duration within the parameters considered normal.

Thus, they understand that it is a political shield, of someone who has a muysui generis idea of what democracy and political debate is.

The mayor proves not to be very clear that the municipal corporation represents and works for all Torreños, regardless of the political color of each councilor.

"This should be the regulation of all, and it is a boldness to seek to approve it with the only votes of his party, the Popular Party, which governs in minority, and the defending councilor, who, with his vote, makes possible all the proposals of the team of government".

With his attitude, "Zapata shows his contempt for political action, and restricts the most basic tasks of government control that the opposition has, while ignoring and completely nullifying the negotiation and consensus."

From the PSOE, Citizens and Change The Towers, we invite you to withdraw the proposal and demonstrate that it is the mayor of all the Torreños and councilors that represent them.

For these groups, inaction could only be interpreted as a symbol of weakness and insecurity when facing something as important as political debate and the will to reach agreements for the benefit of all citizens.
