The City Council and RNE Torreño sign the agreement for the relocation of the antenna of the park of "The Play" (01/12/2010)

On the morning of Wednesday 1 December, the mayor of Las Torres de Cotillas, Domingo Coronado, and the director of Spain's National Radio (RNE), Benigno Moreno, have signed the cooperation agreement between the municipality and the corporation Torreño RTVE moving the antenna of Radio Nacional of Spain (RNE) located in the municipality, particularly in the areas known as "The Play" on Avenida Reyes Católicos, event which took place in the Plenary Hall of the City Torreño.

By signing this agreement, the repeater will be moved to a new location, away from inhabited areas of the resort town.

"Over time, due to the municipality's urban growth, the antenna has been in the town, in the middle. In fact, it is right next to the new sports facilities under construction," said Coronado, who reminded it is "a problem sense Cotillas Towers."

Subsequently, authorities have visited the site of the new location of the antenna, specifically 142,000 meters square, located in an industrial area west of town, next to the "Sale Joy" and next to the town of Murcia.

After moving the antenna, leaving the land will be used for construction of a large municipal garden.

"This facility will give way to a green lung for all Torreño and Torrena, with positive effects on sustainable development of the municipality," said local Councillor for Urban Development, Yolanda Muñoz.

This transfer was approved Oct. 18 by the City of Las Torres de Cotillas in extraordinary session, thanks to the votes for popular and socialist groups.

This will start a petition to solve historic neighbors of this facility, which dates from the 70's and has been working on the mayor Torreño, Domingo Coronado, since taking power back in 2003.

Ready end of 2012

Although until they have finished writing the final draft, which is expected to be ready by March next year, may not be known with accuracy the cost of the operation, Coronado has advanced a ballpark figure.

"It will be an investment of between three and four million euros and no doubt it will be a big deal for our town for all the benefits we provide," the mayor has made Torreño, which noted that "it was initially expected that the transfer is finished by 2012. "
