The Toledo group "The Candle" wins "Amateur Theatre Contest II John Bath" Torreño (03/12/2013)

The "The Candle" (Talavera de la Reina, Toledo) group won last Saturday November 30 as winner of the "Amateur Theatre Festival II John Bath" Cotillas Towers and taking a cash prize of 1,000 euros thanks the staging of his play "The Price" by Arthur Miller.

As runner was chosen by the jury "Carasses Theatre" group (Elda, Alicante), who played "Paint me in eternity", a work of Alberto Miralles set in the Renaissance and earned him a prize of 500 euros.

The prizes for this contest, organized by the Department of Torrena Culture in collaboration with the theater group amateur Torreño "Tejuba" were delivered in an evening held at the House of Culture "Pedro Serna" Local, which as an appetizer the own local group out of competition represented the play "An Inspector Calls".

Four great works

The event began with two stage proposals, which served to fill the stalls of the House of Culture Torrena.

So, on Friday, 8 November "Airen Theatre" Tomelloso (Ciudad Real) group staged the play "The House of the goats" by Jaime Hall, a story set in the Spanish Civil War.

The next night, Saturday, November 9th, the "Teatro Carasses" group (Elda, Alicante) performed "Paint me in eternity", a work of Alberto Miralles set in the Renaissance.

At next weekend's last works that will compete for the prizes of this contest were plotted.

So, on Friday 15 November, the group of San Pedro del Pinatar "La Barraca of Federico" staged the work of Alejandro Casona "Lady of the Dawn", which introduced the public to a family tragedy.

And on Saturday 16th November "The Candle" (Talavera de la Reina, Toledo) group represented the play "The Price" by Arthur Miller, in which the plot revolved around the meeting of two brothers after 16 years.

"This year we again have the support of the public, which has responded beautifully to all the theatrical offerings," said Councilwoman Torrena Culture, Isabel Franco, who recalls that the collection of works entries (2 euros per viewer per day) will go to "Parish Caritas".
