González and Domingo Tovar Coronado put the first stone of the extension of Avenida Juan Carlos I (06/05/2009)

The Government of Spain has already paid 107.2 million for 467 projects from the State Fund

The Government delegate reported that the works carried out under the Local Investment Fund will generate 12,000 jobs in the Region of Murcia, an estimate that exceeds by 3,300 which were initially expected.

González Tovar made these statements in the act he has shared with the mayor of the Torres de Cotillas, Domingo Coronado, and has been placed the first stone of the work under such Fund will be held in this county and consist of the extension of Avenida Juan Carlos I.

The Government delegate noted that, unlike other municipalities, which have diversified the fate of the money granted by the Government, the City of Las Torres de Cotillas has decided to concentrate on a single investment project aimed at improving road safety and traffic in the city and, above all, to create employment.

The work, with a budget of EUR 3,470,917 was approved at the time by the Government Office and the Ministry of Public Administration who once hired by the City Council's work has already transferred 70 percent of the investment, ie 2,429,641.9 euros.

The remaining 30 percent will deliver the MAP once the work.

Regarding the work itself, we note that its implementation will employ 105 people, 65 incorporated in the staff of the contractor and the newly created 40 jobs.

This is the extension of Avenida Juan Carlos I to the N-344, with a concrete underpass under the railway and the construction of two roundabouts for traffic control in two crosses.

The project also includes lighting columns of 12/14 meter dual lamp, road drainage, lighting the road and the installation of safety barriers.

The Local Investment Fund to date

Finally, the government delegate pointed out that until today, the Ministry of Public Administration has been transferred to 33 municipalities in the region EUR 107,218,862, corresponding to 70 percent of the amount of the 444 works already contracted, which means creating of 8,801 jobs.

In this latter regard, the delegate explained that the number of jobs created and financed the works awarded the Local Investment Fund, to date, is much higher than originally planned, so finally it is estimated that the number of posts of work is of some 12,000 jobs.

Tovar Gonzalez recalled that the Region of Murcia has been the recipient of 246.3 M € of this fund and once the presentation phase project has been approved 673 projects submitted by the 45 municipalities in the region.

It has also made reference to the autonomy with which the councils have selected their projects, addressing the needs of their municipality as well as employment generation, which initially was estimated at about 8,715 jobs and depending on the duration of works in a 1,116,205 hours of work and hopefully will be overcome.
