During these days 20 students from the 'Osnovna Å¡kola Ljudevit Gaj' teaching center in Krapina (Croatia) visit Las Torres de Cotillas as part of the project 'Mare Nostrum: the sea that unites us', in which 20 IES students also participate' Florida 'local.
Among the activities that young Croatians will develop during these days were received in the afternoon of Monday, May 7 by the mayor Isabel María Zapata and the councilor of Education Pedro Cabrera.
In addition, they will participate in workshops and excursions.
"They will be in Las Torres de Cotillas until May 11, knowing our town and enjoying cultural excursions to Cartagena, Barranda and Caravaca de la Cruz," says the mayor.
"Also, the young people of Croatia will be introduced to the Murcian culture through music, dance, gastronomy and cultural visits, and activities will be carried out to promote healthy living habits", they point out from the institute, remembering that with the center Croatian carried out an Erasmus + KA1 project in 2015.
A broad program
As the title of the project indicates, the activities revolve around cultural diversity and acceptance of other cultures.
In the center Torreño there are students of different nationalities and for that reason the students decided to develop the theme of the reception of new immigrant students, since the center has a protocol of this type of students focused on respect, tolerance and non-discrimination .
Among the workshops to be developed is the one that will be given by the 'Platform for Assistance to Refugees in Murcia' (PAREM) on the integration of refugees in Murcia society.
Other interesting workshops are mindfulness, world music and zumba.
Some of the activities that will be carried out by the students of both centers are the presentation of their center, town and culture;
the integration of refugees in each country and the preparation and tasting of typical dishes from Murcia and Croatia.
