The project 'Mare Nostrum: the sea that unites us' has put in collaboration with the IES 'La Florida' of Las Torres de Cotillas with the teaching center 'Osnovna Å¡kola Ljudevit Gaj' from Krapina (Croatia) to work on cultural diversity and acceptance of other cultures.
"A total of 40 students, 20 from each institute, have participated in this initiative that has led young Croatians to get to know our town and our Region for 20 days," explains the mayor Isabel María Zapata, who participated last Friday, November 11. May in the last day of coexistence held in the Torreño center, with games, activities and a large meal.
"In our IES there are students of different nationalities and therefore their students decided to develop the issue of the reception of new immigrant students, since the center has a protocol on this type of students focused on respect, tolerance and non-discrimination ", points out the Councilor for Education Pedro Cabrera.
Among its activities, Krapina students -who already carried out an Erasmus + KA1 project in 2015 with the IES 'La Florida'- enjoyed cultural excursions to Cartagena, Barranda and Caravaca de la Cruz, and learned about the culture of Murcia through music, dances, gastronomy and various visits.
