The tennis association 'Las Torres' (ATT) held a few days ago on the tracks of the municipal sports center of Las Torres de Cotillas the 19th edition of its traditional tournament '12 horas'.
"As always it was a great celebration of sport, a meeting of coexistence in which 26 players from different parts of the Region of Murcia participated," says Councilor for Physical Activity and Sports Ginés Pérez, whose area collaborated with the event.
The tournament was divided into five categories by level of game and with all against all system, reaching to play more than fifty games to 7 games.
In the diamond category - the maximum - the champion was Pablo de la Calle, with José Antonio Dólera as runner-up.
In ruby ​​the gold went to Germán Reinaldos and the silver to Francisco Ginés Iniesta, while in sapphire the best was Ángel Abellán followed by José Luis Leante.
In the emerald category, Moisés Juan defeated Cipriano García and in Zircon, the champion was José Carlos Samper and runner-up Pepe Martínez.
Long history
The ATT, which has 130 members, is a very dynamic entity in the municipality since its inception.
It has been organizing in the municipal sports center since 1992 the regular league, where nearly a thousand tennis players from all over Murcia have passed.
In addition to this league, the ATT organizes other events such as '12 Horas', the 'Fiestas Trophy' and the doubles tournament, always counting on the collaboration of Las Torres de Cotillas City Council.
"It is worth mentioning that the veterans team has participated in regional tournaments and it is the absolute who currently competes in the CTA tournament, getting two championships and a runner-up in recent years," says its president Pepe Martinez.
