The gynecologist of the Hospital de Molina de Segura Esperanza Gadea and the midwife of the center Emilia Redondo offered a few days ago a talk on pelvic floor and urinary incontinence to the members of the women's association 'Isabel González' of Las Torres de Cotillas.
"25% of women over 40 suffer from incontinence problems due to pelvic floor weakening, which is considered a public health problem with a high impact on quality of life," explained the doctor.
During the same, Hortelano explained that a weakening of the pelvic floor can cause leakage of urine, sexual dysfunction, decreases of the uterus, vagina or rectum, etc.
In addition, he stressed that this weakening can be caused by risk factors such as pregnancy and childbirth, certain sports practices, aging, hormonal changes, etc.
"It was a very interesting talk and our members were able to learn more about this situation," says association president Amalia Pérez.
