Tomorrow, Wednesday, June 6, the debates of the European project 'Do U Sport' begin in Las Torres de Cotillas, which is part of the 'Erasmus +' program and whose main objective is to explore the role of local authorities in the promotion of sports as an activity for all, free of barriers.
"During these days we are counting on the visit of a representation of our partners in this project, who will participate in these debates", explains the mayor Isabel María Zapata.
In this proposal, which began in January 2017 and will last until next December, Las Torres de Cotillas participates in collaboration with the municipalities of Tábua (Portugal) and Mielec (Poland).
With a budget of almost 31,500 euros for the Torreño municipality, this project is subsidized by almost 75% by the European Commission.
"Consolidating the role of local authorities in promoting sports for all, increasing the number of people and organizations involved in sports activities at the local level or promoting a deeper understanding of how sports are seen and experienced in the municipalities are other of the objectives of this project that is already underway ", explains the Councilor for Physical Activity and Sports Ginés Pérez.
Broad program
At 9:30 a.m., the opening ceremony will begin in the plenary hall of the local Consistory, which will be in charge of Zapata and Pérez.
The first presentation (9'45 hours) will be in charge of José Serna, professor and head of the Physical Education department of IES 'Salvador Sandoval Torreño, and will be entitled' Sports meetings of the schools of Las Torres de Cotillas'.
Antonio Brao, member of the Assembly of the Spanish Federation of Badminton, secretary of the Federation of Badminton of the Region of Murcia and coach and judge of the sport, will be in charge of talking about 'Badminton, a sport for all, with tradition and rooted in Las Torres de Cotillas' (10'15 hours).
'Tennis school in Las Torres de Cotillas' (10'35 hours) will be the talk given by Alejandro Sánchez, doctor in Sports Science, professor at the Sports Science Faculty of the University of Murcia and national tennis professor, and Alberto Serrano, Bachelor of Science in Physical Activity and Sports and master in teaching of teachers.
More talks
At 11:30 a.m. Bartolo Gómez and Marina Martínez, responsible for the departments of Public Health and Environment respectively of the Torreño City Council, will talk about 'Healthy Itineraries'.
The Association for the Integration of People with Disabilities (CEOM) will be the protagonist of the presentation of 12 hours, entitled 'Environmental projects developed in Las Torres de Cotillas' and after which the mayor will make a symbolic delivery of life balls to the representatives of Tábua for the reforestation of their municipality.
At 12'45 hours will be the talk 'The network of trails in the municipality of Las Torres de Cotillas: a commitment to health and heritage', which will be taught by Lázaro Giménez, president of Natursport, technician of FEDME Trails and member of the Advisory Council of the Mountain Science Committee
Finally, the 'Charter of Services of the Department of Sports of the City of Las Torres de Cotillas' will be the report that closes this event (13'15 hours).
It will be taught by José García, administrative of this municipal area, and by Rosa Cabrera, administrative of the municipal department of Torreño Planning and Internal Communication.
