Onofre García.
That is the name of the 'Huertano del Año' of Las Torres de Cotillas, which tomorrow, June 23, will be recognized for its dedication to the ethnographic tradition and culture of the municipality within the framework of the deeply rooted 'Homenaje al huertano' of the Torreña locality.
At 9:00 pm we will proceed, as we do every year, to the offering of a laurel wreath in the monument to the huertano located in the homonymous plaza.
"It is a recognition of our roots, a beautiful gesture that we make every year to those people who have been shaping the town we are today," explains the mayor, Isabel María Zapata, who will dedicate the event with García, who turns 100 in September.
Afterwards, the activity will be transferred to the social center of the neighborhood of San Pedro (22 hours), which is already warm to enjoy its patron saint festivities.
In the act collaborate the ethnographic group 'Vergel de Murcia', which will offer a sample of music and regional dances;
the local amateur theater group 'Tejuba', which will star in a work of Huerta style;
and the popular panochist Fernando González Marquina, better known as 'Nando Er Tristán'.
"In addition, it can not be missing that our beloved poet Salvador Sandoval offers us a reading of his poems," says Zapata.
