Next Friday, August 24 (22 hours) the municipal auditorium 'Juan Baño' will be the scene of the opening gala of the municipality's 2018 festivities, which are celebrated in honor of the Virgen de la Salceda.
An evening in which, among other proposals, will be presented as 'Raspajo del Año' to Mª Encarna Hernández (peña 'El Raspajo').
These are his first parties in honor of the Virgen de la Salceda as mayor.
I am convinced that they will be very special dates for me.
As a devotee of our patron and punctual participant in almost all the activities of these celebrations throughout my life, being an especially representative part of this event makes me a huge illusion and fills my heart Torreño.
What would you highlight about Torrena parties?
Those that arrive at the end of August are certain dates to enjoy: the company of our family, the activities of the festive program proposed by the Department of Celebrations, the companionship of our neighbors ...
What acts do the mayor like best?
I look forward to the daily movements of our Virgin, where we can show all our love and fervor.
I am also looking forward to the floral offering, in which every year I have seen my huertana costume with the greatest enthusiasm.
And I do not want to forget other important events, such as the gala for the festivities, where this year we will have as our best bartender Cynthia Cano;
the popular loose heifers, which for a few years have a strong solidarity character;
the hilarious night of the embers and the spanking;
the novel celebration of the meatloaf, which will be the perfect aperitif to our beloved procession of floats and comparsas;
or the unforgettable and spectacular year burning of the Raspajo.
How do you see your municipality today?
Las Torres de Cotillas follows a marked path of progress, where the City Council that I preside over - and thanks to its valuable employees - works tirelessly to improve the well-being of its neighbors.
There are many projects that we plan to undertake in the near future, in order to ensure that our people prosper and develop all the potential that its people provide.
We are allocating 600,000 euros to an urban renewal plan and improvements for local police and civil protection;
POS 2018/19 will have 339,000 euros;
Soon, 5,700,000 euros will be invested in the construction of a storm tank, 250,000 euros in the improvement of the network of sanitation collectors and 100,000 euros for the improvement and renovation of green spaces.
And the development of the Integrated Sustainable Urban Development Strategy (EDUSI) 'Las Torres Conecta' will have more than six million euros between European and municipal funds.
What message do you want to get to your neighbors in these celebrations?
I encourage you to participate in the acts proposed in these festivities.
I also invite you to continue demonstrating a year more than the spirit of our people is active, determined, cheerful and fun.
And, of course, to welcome as people from Las Torres de Cotillas all those who come from abroad to enjoy our tradition and have fun side by side with us.
There are many people who put their grain of sand for these parties to go ahead ... Yes, and I want to thank them for their work.
The festival commission and its collaborators do a great job throughout the year so that we can enjoy these days with the best proposals to have a great time.
They give their time in a selfless way, giving their work, imagination and effort to the people of Las Torres de Cotillas, and for this reason it is mandatory to acknowledge their commitment and convey our gratitude.
In addition, I also want to thank the rest of the people who work with great effort so that these parties are developed as we all want: the men and women of the Local Police and Civil Protection bodies, to watch over our safety;
and the municipal workers, who are the pillar of all the good things that the City Council does in this town.
