The mayor of Las Torres de Cotillas, Isabel Maria Zapata, and the delegate of the Government in the Region of Murcia, Diego Conesa, met on Monday October 8 to discuss various issues of interest to the municipality Torreño.
Two issues stood out on the table: the strengthening of security in the Carmen district and the transfer of the National Radio of Spain (RNE) antenna.
"We have intensified the actions of the Local Police and Civil Guard in the neighborhood of Carmen, tripling the number of patrols, conducting joint checks and including the daily identification of people and vehicles in the neighborhood," reports Zapata, who spoke with Conesa of the placement of security cameras in the IES 'La Florida' to control the environment.
"The Government Delegation has authorized us to install two of these control equipment and in the meeting we discussed the possibility of placing more to strengthen surveillance in the area," says the mayor.
Moving the antenna
They also talked about the procedures that are underway to move the RNE antenna, dating from the 70s of the last century.
"It is a long-distance project that depends on Radio Televisión Española (RTVE) and the government delegate has committed to get involved to try to streamline the procedure," explains the council, who told Conesa at what point is this transfer.
"The growth of the town has left the antenna in its urban area and we have been working for several years to get it out, a process that does not depend solely on the City Council and we need the collaboration of other institutions," says the mayor, who points out that the land that will remain empty with the transfer of the antenna already have a function: they will build a large municipal garden that will act as 'green lung'.
