It is significant the culture of reduction of polluting emissions that goes calando in the last times in the Spanish city councils.
It is in itself a challenge of the Consistories to develop ambitious projects where the saving of energy consumption in municipal dependencies, public lighting and mobile fleet of vehicles are the areas that clearly calibrate one of the most important guidelines of horizontal vision in what to channel a path of social and economic development refers to towns and cities.
We are facing a strategy of progress that is anchored in sustainability, in that rational use of the resources available to a society.
Respect and protect the natural space, the heritage, the commitment to education and awareness of the common citizenship are steps to consolidate this journey in which we must have a work of street, neighborhood, school, with an involvement of the tissue local economic, collective, ..., all in favor of a positioning in line with sustainable development and from a global perspective.
With regard to the municipalities, this optimization of sustainable resources was originally planned in the so-called Covenant of Mayors, a protocol that established the need to reduce CO2 emissions by 20% until 2020.
The Consistories are a legion that are currently meeting this goal, an improvement of the environment that is the result of a joint action involving various areas of municipal management.
Initiatives such as tax rebates such as the "urban contribution" for the houses that are equipped with photovoltaic plants or the circulation applicable to hybrid or electric vehicles, the installation of charging points for these cars or the deployment of urban routes in full sustainable fuels powered by renewable energies and with landscaped areas completely irrigated with purified water are examples of a society with ever more quality of life.
