Last Saturday, October 27, the work 'Baldosas', staged by the group 'Almagra Teatro' (Mula), closed the competition of the 'VII National Competition of Amateur Theater Juan Baño' of Las Torres de Cotillas.
This was the fourth representation and proposed a bittersweet comedy that caricatures the real estate market and its people through a persuasive salesman, who turns out to be also a victim of the system.
This contest for amateur groups started on Saturday, October 6, with the company 'Expresando' (Madrid), which interpreted a free version of Molière's 'Tartufo';
the following week, October 13, the company 'Maru-JASP' (Alcalá de Henares) represented 'If something can happen, even if it seems unlikely, it just happens inevitably';
and on October 20 the 'Cía.
Teatro en Construcción '(Elche) staged the play' Huanita '.
"One more year we have had representations of very high level, with groups that customize the best amateur theater in our country, and every day the contest has had a great response from the public," explains the mayor Torrena, Isabel María Zapata.
Closing session
This theatrical competition for amateur groups from all over Spain will only have the closing day, which will take place on Saturday, November 10, in an evening with free admission in which the prizes will be awarded to the best.
"In addition, our 'Tejuba' will represent the work 'Bajar al moro' as the artistic culmination to the contest," says the councilor for Culture, Pedro Cabrera.
Organized by the Department of Culture in collaboration with the Torreño amateur theater group 'Tejuba', the contest proposes 2,000 euros in prizes: 1,000 euros and a trophy for the best show;
200 euros and trophy for the best actor and actress;
100 euros and trophy for the best address;
and 100 euros and trophy for the best actress and supporting actor.
