The municipal group of CITIZENS attending to the numerous complaints and petitions of neighbors, presented in the last plenary session two motions to activate two comprehensive plans of rehabilitation with more than 20 proposals for the neighborhoods of El Carmen (the plots) and the neighborhood of the Vicentes (the nuns).
The proposals of these motions were consensual and the majority collected from the residents of these neighborhoods, who see with concern how their environment has been spoiled by the neglect and abandonment of the City Council.
Traffic and cultivation of drugs, chronic lack of street cleaning, lack of green areas, lack of citizen security, illegal occupation and social exclusion, pests, etc ... These are some of the serious common problems that neighbors have to endure for many years .
The motions of CITIZENS sought to activate energetic measures to limit and reverse the situation of accelerated degradation of these neighborhoods.
But the two motions were denied by the majority of the plenary, with the vote against the Popular Party and the abstentions of PSOE and Change Towers (CLT), together with the absence of the defending councilor.
The PP after abandoning those neighborhoods for decades, justified their vote against the activation of measures by the City Council as the total dedication of the 800,000 euros of EDUSI to the neighborhood of Carmen and the arrangement of sidewalks and pavement in the district of Los Vicentes, through a subsidy from the general commerce department, ordered and managed by the Merchants Area of ​​our municipality.
Fix the sidewalks, make a new social center or the dedication of the current social worker one day a week (in our motion we proposed the hiring of an exclusive for the neighborhood), does not solve the problems of these neighborhoods.
These problems must be tackled with solutions that go to the root of the problem and in an energetic and constant way, constancy that the Popular Party has lacked for decades and that has taken neighborhoods to the edge of marginality.
Deepening the 800,000 euros of the EDUSI that the City Council announced that it would invest entirely in the Barrio del Carmen, goes against the own project of EDUSI, which indicates that it would invest in three points: the neighborhood of Carmen, neighborhood of the Vicentes and urban helmet.
All this without having any written plan and back to the neighbors, not complying with another pillar of EDUSI that is citizen participation.
We attend with concern to how this European subsidy is being managed and that it may imply strong sanctions against the City Council.
Nor is justified abstention in the vote of the motions by the PSOE and CLT, which presented three days before the plenary motion a motion of only three proposals, two of them included in the motions of CITIZENS and the other proposal already included in other arguments of this municipal group.
The motions presented by Ciudadanos Las Torres were available to all municipal groups from October 1 and they are expressly invited to contribute and negotiate any point, always in order to improve the measures and give the best solution to the neighbors.
