Lower tax pressure, more investments, increase of social items and those destined to districts and schools, and greater promotion of physical activity and sports.
These are the main lines of the 2019 municipal budgets of Las Torres de Cotillas, which were approved on Monday, November 26, in full so that it is once again the first municipality in the Region of Murcia to do so.
"In addition, for the next year we have a grant of 5 million euros from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) that through the Integrated Sustainable Urban Development Strategy (EDUSI) 'Las Torres Conecta' will be used for different investments" , explains the mayor, Isabel María Zapata, who reminds that this important grant will be added a municipal contribution of 1,250,000 euros.
By 2019 the municipal budget amounts to 16,726,288'83 euros, which represents an increase of more than 1.5 million euros compared to this year that is ending.
"Among our objectives we want to continue to improve municipal services and public safety, and expand the project of participatory budgets, which this year has been so successful among our secondary school students and training cycles," says Zapata.
For the next year, it is worth highlighting the reduction of taxes, in which the one that will be applied of almost 6% to the IBI stands out.
This decrease will mean that the tax rate for urban farms will go from 0.69% to 0.63%, and for rural ones, from 0.65% to 0.60%.
"We have to remember that in addition the neighbors can benefit from a bonus of 5% additional in case of direct debit from the receipt of their taxes", informs the Councilor for Finance, Ángel González.
Increase of games
Between the items that increase for 2019 stand out the one of maintenance of schools, that multiplies by 10 until arriving at the 100,000 euros;
the improvement of street cleaning, which increases by 100,000 euros;
the one of the university bus, that before the great demand of its users it will duplicate the service;
the one of adapted sport, that increases near a 35%;
and the environment, which will serve to develop the 'Covenant of Mayors' that seeks to reduce CO2 emissions.
"In addition, a new game has been created for the districts and endowed with 70,000 euros", points out González, who points out that "subsidies to sports associations are also increased and sports programs go up to meet the increase in sporting events that every year the different associations organize in collaboration with the City Council ".
A commitment to sports that is also reflected in the increase in the number of hours of the geronto-gymnastics courses, the medical office and the summer holiday multi-sport school, in support of parents with children over 12 years of age they can not attend the conciliation school.
Various projects in EDUSI
In the investment section highlight the 2,160,444 euros that will be used to move the antenna of Radio Nacional de España (RNE) outside the urban area.
"This project is included in our EDUSI and we have also budgeted the recovery of the urban space that the antenna will leave," Zapata said.
Within the framework of the EDUSI, the Torreño City Council will bet in 2019 for the promotion of the use of renewable energies with energy certifications in municipal buildings and with the development of the first performances of the 'smart city', the next step to the adaptation and modernization that during the year he has been doing his electronic administration.
"Other projects that we are very proud of are the construction of an intergenerational social center, whose works will begin in 2019, and the plan for urban regeneration and social integration that will also be launched," the councilor declared.
Likewise, within the EDUSI, the urban mobility plan will be updated with the objective of creating a sustainable urban transport system.
"These budgets, like all previous ones, offer the best for the residents of Las Torres de Cotillas, always understanding that we must comply with the budgetary laws and comply with the principle of budgetary stability, public debt and expenditure rule" , says Zapata, who does not hesitate to describe as "excellent the current position of Las Torres de Cotillas".
