The theater group 'Tejuba' of Las Torres de Cotillas paid off its participation in the seventh edition of the amateur theater contest 'Estrella Gil' de Moratalla with very good taste.
The jury of this cultural event decided to award the Torreño group the prizes for the best direction, representation and staging with the work they represented, 'La zapatera prodigiosa' by the immortal Federico García Lorca.
"In addition, Lorena Lara was chosen as the best female performance of the contest," says the mayor, Isabel María Zapata, who wanted to get the members of the 'Tejuba' the love and congratulations of the entire municipality.
New work in the repertoire
With a classic profile, released in 1930 and inspired by the feminine spirit, the story shows the struggle of the protagonist - married in a marriage of convenience - in which she is torn between her reality and her true desires.
"It is a work that for more than 20 years had been several times in portfolio and we could not have represented," says the director of 'Tejuba', Joaquín Cantero.
Torreño premiered this representation in their municipality last March and is now the piece selected to present at their next appointments.
"This group was born in 1966 under the direction of the longed Juan Baños and behind his back has a repertoire of over 40 works," says Councilman for Culture, Pedro Cabrera.
