This was the exciting Christmas proclamation offered by Joaquín Alfonso Férez, 'El Quines', on the night of Saturday, December 8, at the Church of Our Lady of La Salceda.
A speech that in certain moments had to stop excited and that received in numerous occasions the applause of the numerous public gathered in the temple.
Among the attendees, the mayor Isabel María Zapata -who handed her a commemorative plaque- and a large representation of the family of 'El Quines', a beloved character in the town.
In fact, the town crier closed his speech singing with three of his grandchildren a Christmas carol of which he declared himself to be a great enthusiast - on the altar of the Torrena church.
Inauguration of the nativity scene
Subsequently, the activity was moved to Adolfo Suárez square to inaugurate the municipal nativity scene installed in the basement of the Town Hall.
Mounted as tradition by Francisco Romero, who for many years helped his long-suffering father to carry out this task, was blessed by the parish priest Ismael Sánchez.
How could it be otherwise the music of tradition and folklore and the tasting of sweets and sweet wine put the icing on this act.
