Among the attractions of any city, of any village with a tradition, stands out its historical and monumental heritage, a collection of centuries that has molded its idiosyncrasy, character and physical appearance and that is the result of the personality of the generations of people who have gone inhabiting throughout History.
It is a significant legacy, a fundamental piece of collective memory, which we not only have the obligation to transmit in the best conditions to the younger generations, but also to promote it as an instrument of tourist dynamism and, therefore, of great importance for the creation of productive fabric, investor and job creation in the urban environment.
From this strategy, which goes beyond diagnosis and search for culprits, public administrations as deployed in the Spanish geography as are the municipalities, should work positively and attending to objectives such as projection, dissemination and promotion at all levels of that heritage wealth participating in a first value that would go through its rehabilitation.
It is a task that goes beyond the municipal sphere because all heritage is a general good, of common interest, and both citizens and the Administration are responsible for its defense, preservation and protection.
And it would be very difficult to value something if one does not know what its importance is or has been.
And to conjure that handicap, the success of any preservation and patrimonial management should not ignore the informative and formative actions, those undertaken from the knowledge.
And this is because our municipalities, our cities are lucky enough to enjoy a rich heritage that should be disseminated and protected, a wealth that we have the right to enjoy and capable of generating by itself even economic development and jobs.
A reality to enhance at all times and places and priority in the tasks of local government.
It could not be less.
