The participatory budgeting process 2019 of Las Torres de Cotillas has already begun, with 350,000 euros allocated to activities and / or financially sustainable investments.
The first stone of this proposal is the informative sessions in the municipality, which started last Thursday, January 31, with the representatives of local neighborhood associations as protagonists.
"We will hold different meetings in neighborhoods, districts and sector until February 12, to set the collection of proposals on February 14," says the mayor, Isabel María Zapata, present at this meeting.
These participatory budgets will be open to the entire population over 16 years of age in the municipality, after the pilot experience carried out last year in secondary schools, high schools and training cycles.
"We want to involve citizens even more in the prioritization of the spending of municipal resources, since they will be able to participate in the debates and add their contribution in the decision making of the public budget," says Zapata, who points out that for this project with the supervision of the research team of the University of Murcia.

These funds will be distributed as follows: two items of at least 10,000 euros for both the area of ​​women and equality for the elderly, another of a minimum of 15,000 euros for the area of ​​people with diversity and another more than 30,000 euros at least for districts.
In addition, a maximum of 285,000 euros of free designation will be allocated.
For a proposal to be considered in this process, it must meet these six requirements: that it may be executed in 2019, that it be municipal competence, that it be legally and technically viable, that it does not exceed the amount of 100,000 euros, that at present it is not executing and that is of general interest.
Next step
After the information sessions at the end of March, the proposals that will go to a vote will be publicized, which will be held on April 1.
Finally, on April 8 there will be a day of citizen participation to publicize the chosen projects.
