Nearly 500 1st and 2nd year ESO students from Las Torres de Cotillas participate in the new edition of the Argos Comunitario program, a municipal initiative for the prevention of drug addiction and health promotion.
"The objective is to prevent the consumption of alcohol, tobacco and cannabis among young people of the municipality, and for this the students participate in two didactic sessions in their centers, plus another that takes place in the health center given by the health personnel", explains the mayor, Isabel María Zapata, who details that the participating centers are the IES Salvador Sandoval and La Florida, and the Divino Maestro, Monteazahar and Susarte schools.
This program has two lines of action: on the one hand, with "Conscience with Science" we work with the students of 1st ESO the problems related to the consumption of alcoholic beverages;
and, on the other, with "Altacan" the prevention of the consumption of alcohol, tobacco and cannabis with the students of the 2nd year of ESO is sought.
Prompted by the Ministry of Health and Social Policy and coordinated in the municipality by the Department of Social Services, this proposal began last December and will last until April.
"We want to thank the involvement of schools and professionals of the health center of our municipality who participate in the program," says Councilor for Social Services, María Dolores Sánchez.
