The Carnival of Las Torres de Cotillas is here.
The acts begin next Thursday March 7 (21 hours) in the House of Culture Pedro Serna with the second edition of the contest of chirigotas of Carnival of the municipality, organized by the Department of Celebrations.
"A total of five groups will participate and the entrance will be free and free until full capacity," explains the mayor, Isabel María Zapata.
Caravaca will perform the male and female chirigotas (the Chiriwoman, last year's winners), in addition to the Albatalía and Cabezo de Torres, as well as the chirigota Los Sangochaos de Torrevieja.
This appointment has two prizes: diploma and 1,000 euros to the winner and diploma and 500 euros to the second.
The awards ceremony will be on Friday March 8 (21 hours) and in the same place, during the proclamation of these celebrations that this time will be borne by the association Brodguay and in which the two winning groups will also act.
A loaded weekend
The Carnival weekend will be completed with two parades that depart from Juan Carlos I Avenue and where the imagination, talent and all the desire to have a good time of Las Torres de Cotillas: the adult will take place on Saturday 9 March (18 hours), with a tour to the Ermita de la Cruz, and in which about 800 participants are expected;
and the children's, which will leave on Sunday March 10 (12 hours) and in which about 600 children will go to the roundabout of Mula Street.
"The parade of the youngest of the house was held for the first time last year, with such success that we repeat and we are sure that it will have more influx still," says Councilwoman of Celebrations, Amalia Perez.
In addition, to give a special touch to these celebrations, an express lid route will be held.
From March 8 to 10 and from 12 a.m. to 4 p.m., 12 establishments will offer a tapa plus beer or soft drink for 2.50 euros.
"The Carnival is one of our busiest parties and all its activities have great popular attendance, so it is one of the appointments we prepare with more affection", highlights Zapata.
