The IES La Florida of Las Torres de Cotillas has been selected to participate in the Science on Stage Festival 2019, which will take place in Cascais (Portugal) from October 31 to November 3.
There he will take the work "Buscando a Pitágoras" by the students of 2nd ESO with their maths teacher, Iria Vidal, who received an honorable mention from the jury in the final of the national phase of this contest.
The Torreño center is one of eleven works selected in Spain to participate in this European event, which will involve projects from about thirty countries.
It presents a series of playful and manipulative activities around the findings of the well-known Greek mathematician.
Among them we highlight the origins of the musical scale, the regular polyhedra, the irrational numbers and, of course, his well-known theorem.
Science on Stage is a contest aimed mainly at teachers of all educational levels, researchers, scientific disseminators, as well as anyone interested in teaching science, Spain, Portugal and Latin American countries.
Its European phase is one of the most relevant events for teachers of STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics in Spanish) and is held every two years.
