Athlete Torreño Angel Salinas, national champion of 60, 200 and 40 meters of veterans over 65 years, participated with a marked bittersweet taste in the world championship indoor track master Torun (Poland).
Salinas was fifth in the 200 meter flat test, where he beat his personal best with 27'39 '' in the semifinals.
In addition, defending the shirt of the Spanish team was sixth in the world in the relay race 4x200 meters (1'48''58).
The worst came in the test of 400 meters, where after signing a great classification just a few meters from the goal the medal escaped.
When he was already in the last few meters and with practically assured metal - silver or bronze - the maneuver of a rival knocked him off the track and caused him to fall, leaving him without options.
That bad luck finally deprived him of a world prize that Salinas had more than deserved and that would have been the icing on the cake of a broad curriculum of both regional and national titles in the veterans category.
On his return to Las Torres de Cotilla he was congratulated in person by the mayor, Isabel María Zapata, and by the Councilor for Physical Activity and Sports, Ginés Pérez, who wished her luck for her upcoming commitments.
