Marian Fernández: "They have ignored the request of Citizens that this service go out to public tender with new sheets adapted to current environmental measures and with a view to the future"
Citizens has reported that the City of Las Torres de Cotillas, governed by the Popular Party has approved a five-year extension of the contract for garbage and street cleaning, despite the continuous complaints of the Torreños for the deficiencies of the service.
Marian Fernandez, spokesperson for Citizens in the City of Las Torres de Cotillas, regretted that the request of Citizens has not been taken into account that claimed that this service went public with new sheets adapted to current environmental measures and with a view to future.
"Instead, we have a contract in which the current company will maintain a large part of a fleet of vehicles that are already 15 years old, when environmental measures have been published, according to which most of the weight of the reduction of emissions in the municipality falls on the transport, for what are very important the measures for the transition to soft mobility modes and the diversification to vehicles of alternative fuels, as well as for the local generation of renewable electric energy ".
On the other hand, Fernandez has criticized that the decision of the Government of the Popular Party is also incomprehensible "because this company will stop providing the cleaning service of the municipal kennel, since the new contract, like the contract for the feline colonies will come out to a public contest to be managed by another company ".
"We do not understand the criteria that the municipal government has followed to extend the garbage contract with the current company, but it is obvious that the public interest has not prevailed", Fernández concluded.
