Last Tuesday, May 7, Las Torres de Cotillas City Council held its local coordination table against gender violence, which, as every year, meets to continue developing local policies that contribute to eradicating this social scourge.
Once again, she was represented by the different agents involved in the action against gender violence in the municipality, as well as with the head of the coordination unit against violence against women in the Government's delegation, Luisa Barreda.
Among the objectives of this table is also to improve the early detection of cases, encouraging coordination between resources and specialized entities and non-specialists in gender violence, find solutions to streamline care and individualize the response offered to each woman, improve and propose new awareness and prevention actions aimed at professionals, citizens, etc.
With these tables that are convened once a year, the aim is to achieve the standardization of the processes of detection, care and monitoring of victims.
The general public also perceives its benefits, since it contributes to increase the perception of gender violence as a social problem and awareness actions are developed closer to specific groups.
Personal recognition
In addition, in this meeting the mayor of Torrena, Isabel María Zapata, and the Councilor for Equality, María Dolores Sánchez, paid a well-deserved recognition to Juan José Otálora, agent of the Civil Guard of Las Torres de Cotillas barracks for their fight against violence of gender in the municipality.
A work that has been developing for years and in which a personal recognition was highlighted for its human quality, attitude, dedication, personal involvement, empathy and sensitivity in the personalized treatment with women, attending them in their moments of special vulnerability.
