The City of Las Torres de Cotillas has set to work to implement an energy management system in the municipal facilities according to ISO 50001. "This is the most widely used business energy management standard in the world", explains the acting mayor, Isabel María Zapata, who recalls that the Energy Efficiency Directive of the European Union regulates this aspect.
"It will serve us to implement an energy policy and properly manage the derived energy aspects, which will result in an efficient and more sustainable energy use, and in a real and quantifiable saving of the energy cost," he says.
To this end, an energy manager and an interdisciplinary team composed of municipal staff have been appointed, who work to identify the activities that consume more energy in their dependencies.
Once recognized, a series of measures that reduce energy consumption will be activated, maximizing at the same time the energy efficiency of the same.
This certification is part of the actions to be carried out in the collaboration agreement signed by the Torreño City Council with INFO and the company Eurovertice Consultores for the participation of the municipality in the European project Compete4Secap, financed by the Horizon 2020 program of the European Union ( No. 754162).
