A total of eight students received on Wednesday, June 12, the diplomas that certify that they have successfully completed the Walk Between Fabrics course, organized by the Abraham Project Association in collaboration with the City of Las Torres de Cotillas.
The closing ceremony took place in the neighborhood center of La Florida, where the classes were held during the months of April, May and June, and was chaired by the acting Councilor for Social Services, María Dolores Sánchez, and the president of Proyecto Abraham, Antonia Villarinos.
"The participants - they started 12 - have been derived from the resources of Social Services, third sector and employment in the area and their profiles are long-term unemployments, low or medium employability and low qualification with basic studies," says Sanchez.
"It is an itinerary of accompaniment and social work insertion, in a course in which participants have been taught sewing and repair of garments," explains the acting mayor, Isabel María Zapata, who visited the workshop last week and He notes that the project also includes pre-employment workshops, job counseling and psychosocial care.
Collaboration agreement
Torreño City Council and Abraham Project, an NGO of social and environmental action that centers its activity on the collection of clothes, footwear and toys, have a collaboration agreement in force.
Under this agreement there are 20 containers installed in the municipality for the collection of clothing, which in 2018 received more than 50,000 kilos of clothing, footwear and toys.
"This activity is the main source of funding for the entity, which allows it to develop numerous social and training actions aimed at people at risk or situation of social exclusion," highlights Zapata.
