Las Torres de Cotillas already has 20 new side-loading containers with a volume of 3,200 liters for the selective collection of paper and cardboard (blue), and plastic containers, cans and bricks (yellow).
This extension responds to a new collaboration agreement signed by the City of Las Torres de Cotillas and Ecoembes, whose main objective is to promote the selective collection and selection of waste.
"We want to increase the percentages of recovery and recycling of the containers, with actions such as this dedicated to the improvement of containerization", explains Torreño mayor, Joaquín Vela Fernández.
"With the installation of these new containers we want to encourage all the residents of Las Torres de Cotillas to practice the selective collection of waste, a task on which school awareness campaigns are carried out every year," says the councilor of Medio Ambiente, Francisco Fernández Baño, who details that this extension includes 10 blue and 10 other yellow containers distributed in different parts of the municipality.
Increased collection
The collection of plastic containers, cans and bricks in Las Torres de Cotillas has increased by 12.75%, from the 261'62 tons collected in 2017 to the 300 collected in 2018. "With 13'82 kg / inhabitant we are in above the regional average, which is 11.8 kg / inhabitant, but we have to continue working in this sense because we are below the national average, located at 15.7 kg / inhabitant, "says Fernández Baño.
