As of today Las Torres de Cotillas has three Honorary Mayors, distinctions granted by our Municipal Corporation to people and / or figures that stand out for having offered the best of themselves for the benefit of our people or for representing the essence of it.
The first title of Honorary Mayor was granted in 1928 to the Captain General of the Navy, Juan Bautista Aznar Cabañas, for his efforts in bringing the supply of drinking water to Las Torres de Cotillas (this military man three years later would preside over the last government of the King Alfonso XIII).
In 2003, this high distinction was awarded to Doctor Pedro Fernández López, for his work as a doctor at the same time as mayor during the term between 1963 and 1974 and four years later to our Patroness the Virgen de la Salceda.
