The Night Race Fiestas de Las Torres de Cotillas celebrates its 25th edition this year and does so in full form: with the intention of repeating as in recent years its maximum number of participants, estimated at 500 athletes of all ages.
A test that will be held next Wednesday, August 28 (8:15 p.m.) and that was presented yesterday at the Torreño City Council by the mayor, Joaquín Vela Fernández, the Councilor for Health and Sport, Alberta Martínez Vázquez, and the club president Athletics Las Torres, Ignacio Soria.
"It is an activity perfectly embedded in the festivities for a quarter of a century and that brings together many people interested in sports every year, both participants and spectators," highlights the mayor, who emphasizes that his numerous categories openly invite participation.
"In addition, I want to thank all the organizers, sponsors and collaborators, and the members of the Local Police and Civil Protection for their contribution to the celebration of this race," he says.
New tour
A test that like every year is celebrated on the occasion of the local festivities and that in this edition has modified its route to make it more comfortable for its participants.
The test will have its exit in the main street and the athletes will head towards Fernández Vera street to turn down Campo street to Dalí street, where they will continue along D'Stoup street to re-line the goal in the main street.
Organized by the Department of Health and Sports in collaboration with the Las Torres Athletics and Civil Protection Club, the test proposes the following categories: pacifiers (130 meters), pre-benjamín and benjamín (450 meters) and juvenile and child (1,330 meters) , while cadet, youth, junior, absolute, promise, senior and veterans will cover a total of 6,000 meters.
Prizes for the winners
All participants will receive their bag from the runner, which in addition to the traditional commemorative shirt and other objects, this year has an unforgettable detail.
"The Juana Reales club collaborator, veteran athlete and a great example to follow, has hand made a souvenir for each of the runners, as well as trophies for the winners," said the councilor.
In addition, the first three classified from pre-Benjamin to junior will receive a medal, while podiums from absolute to veteran will be awarded a trophy.
