The 2019 festivities of Las Torres de Cotillas came to an end yesterday, Sunday, September 1.
And they did it, as is tradition, with the act of burning the Scratch celebrated at the edge of midnight on the Esplanade Maestro Don Ángel Palazón.
After the speech delivered from the balcony of the old Town Hall with which the mayor, Joaquín Vela Fernández, dismissed these celebrations, a large pyromusical castle began before hundreds of spectators who did not want to miss this appointment.
Finally, the great stone cardboard scarecrow - designed this year by Jesús Pastor and prepared by local artisans Pedro Fermín López and Rubén Fernández - began to burn.
A doll that pays tribute to the important orchard past of Las Torres de Cotillas every year and that surrendered to the flames under the chords of the Canto to Murcia and the expectant gaze of the public that filled the surroundings.
More acts
A day that also offered in the early morning in the church of Our Lady of Salceda the celebration of the solemnity of the patron, in whose honor a mass was celebrated in the same temple already in the afternoon as a preamble of the traditional procession through the streets torreñas.
A parade that was chaired by the first deputy mayor, María Ángeles Fernández Fernández, and that was attended by several members of the municipal corporation as well as hundreds of residents of the municipality.
