There are eight years that the TEJUBA of Las Torres de Cotillas has been organizing the now recognized and prestigious National Amateur Theater Contest that bears the name of its alma mater and first director, Juan Baño.
In this new edition, Talía's art lovers will have one more occasion to fill a more than remarkable poster of performances by excellent actors and actresses of the vocational scene.
Companies arriving from different points of the Spanish geography have given, give and will continue to give luster to this contest that can be defined as a privileged showcase of magic that distill groups that meet in our municipality to compete healthily, from the illusion, the determination and the essay prepared thoroughly and with constancy, in realizing that challenge of testing its interpretative value of all kinds of genres, styles and situations, whether of classical authors as contemporary and experimental.
The National Contest of Amateur Theater "Juan Baño" of Las Torres de Cotillas, connecting with which the TEJUBA will program there for the years 1975 and 1976 with a purely regional scope, in this its sixth call and meeting with the spectators, will start next Saturday , October 5, responding to that philosophy with which the implementation of this notable reference initiative was drawn between those of its characteristics and based on making popular culture, municipality and, therefore, social integration, citizen participation: actors that arise from the base, simple neighbors immersed in an extraordinary scenic task, full of satisfaction and with the stacks put on for more than half a century of quality candlestick to make visible what a people who know how to move and get noticed in the regional context and beyond.
We talked about an event full of exciting vitality, promoting the theater itself, the creation and entertainment of the public, making Las Torres de Cotillas a city that symbolizes that culture that creeps and likes in all segments of age, taste and sensitivity of the population.
This event, with the support of the immortal TEJUBA commanded by the tireless and master teacher Joaquín Cantero, from the most veteran amateur stage group in Spain, carries a decided message of endurance, such as building a sublime space that, in addition to combining life and theater, accumulates, treasures another virtue: the exchange experience that it implies for the local and host company and for the visiting companies to share a few days of exchange of experiences, advice and interaction coexistence, of renovating approaches of the amateur theatrical world.
For the eighth time, the renewed expectation is to have at hand a varied and rich category theater menu for which the curtain of the "Pedro Serna" House of Culture of Las Torres de Cotillas will be raised for four suggestive Saturdays in October and another from November.
A very loud applause for what our Torreño actors are and represent.
