'Silence makes us accomplices, let's live without violence'.
That was the motto of the men's wheel against sexist violence that the City Council of Las Torres de Cotillas and the Association of Men for Equality (AHIGE-Murcia) held yesterday, October 21, in the Plaza Adolfo Suárez in the municipality.
An event chaired by Mayor Torreño, Joaquín Vela Fernández, and that was open to all people, especially men, who believe in equality and are against sexist violence.
In this sense, the participants lit candles to delimit the wheel and inside they created a huge loop adorned with flowers to remember the victims of this type of violence.
In addition, a manifesto was read that opted for the awareness and involvement of all to fight against this great social problem.
Thirteen years of wheels
In 2019, thirteen years of these men's wheels are celebrated, an activity that is marked in the celebration of various acts designed for men to position themselves publicly against sexist violence and become aware of the need to be actively involved against ill-treatment.
"These are actions in which men manifest themselves for peace and equality, because violence cannot be a problem for the victims who suffer it, but it is an issue that affects the whole society," explains Councilwoman Maria del Mar Ruiz Rosillo, who also attended this act.
