In the afternoon of Thursday, October 24, a coordination meeting was held between the professionals of the Center for Assistance to Women Victims of Violence (CAVI) of Las Torres de Cotillas and the Primary Health care staff of the Municipality's Health Center.
This meeting, organized by the Department of Equality, was attended by Mayor Joaquín Vela Fernández and Councilwoman María del Mar Ruiz Rosillo.
"It is essential that there is a fluid, constant and effective communication between the professionals of both services of our municipality, so these coordination meetings are very important given the serious social problem that causes gender violence," the mayor told the attendees.
In this working meeting, CAVI professionals provided tools for the detection of situations of gender violence of the patients who attend the health services.
In addition, the form of referral to the specialized CAVI resource was established among the staff of both services, thus establishing a protocol for action in cases that occur.
"Violence against women is a problem with serious consequences for health and there is a clear concern about the low detection of cases of sexist violence," explains the councilor, who considers "these meetings very positive to optimize resources, since they suppose a benefit for the citizen attention and the improvement in the fight against this social scourge ".
