The weekly market of Las Torres de Cotillas today had an information tent installed by the Department of Equality on Friday, November 15, on the occasion of the commemoration activities of November 25, the international day against gender violence.
"We wanted to inform and raise awareness about the problem of sexist violence in our current society, show the tools to combat it and express the need for the contribution of the entire population to eradicate it," explains Councilwoman María del Mar Ruiz Rosillo, who He has been present in this activity.
"We must show our firm position against gender-based violence, which is an attack on human rights and the dignity of people, and that prevents our society from continuing to advance along the path of well-being and social progress that we want," highlights the mayor.
Cinema-forum, day, theater ...
The program will continue on Monday, November 18 (5:30 p.m.) the social center of the Carmen neighborhood will be the scene of the talk for teenagers 'Loves me, loves me not ... love', given by professionals from the Specialized Care Center for Women Victims of Violence (CAVI) of the municipality.
On Wednesday November 20 (12 hours) the Pedro Serna House of Culture will host the cinema-forum 'You are not alone, Sara ", intended for all types of audiences. The next day, Thursday November 21, the social center of the neighborhood de Los Vicentes will host the talk 'Educating in respect' (16'30 hours).
The mayor will open on Friday, November 22 (9:30 am) the first edition of the conference against gender violence on women in the municipality.
Aimed at professionals (security forces, social services and health professionals ...) and any person interested in this topic, they are organized by the UGT Region of Murcia in the House of Culture in collaboration with the local City Council.
In this program of activities of the Department of Equality Torreña there will also be space for the theater.
It will be on Friday, November 22 with the work 'Put yourself in my place' (20'30 hours), which will represent the Autopía Collective in the Pedro Serna Culture House.
A march that never stops
The march against gender violence in the municipality will be in its fifth edition on Sunday, November 24 (10 hours).
With departure from the Constitution Park, the sale of each number will be 2 euros and the proceeds will go to the benefit of the association 'I want to grow'.
A day designed for the whole family where there will also be various children's activities, such as mats, song sets, face painting or games, an exhibition of female self-defense, raffles ...
To conclude, on Monday, November 25 - concrete date of commemoration of the international day against gender-based violence - an act of awareness will be held in Adolfo Suárez Square, at the gates of the City Hall.
At 12 noon, Mayor Joaquín Vela Fernández will read a manifesto, in an appointment to which the entire population is invited.
Start talks
The activities began last Monday, November 11 with two talks in the social center of the Carmen neighborhood, given by professionals from the Center for Specialized Assistance for Women Victims of Violence (CAVI) in the municipality.
In the morning the activity focused on 'Coeducation and equality' and in the afternoon it was mainly aimed at teenagers with the title 'He loves me, he doesn't love me ... love'.
"Macho violence is a problem for everyone, not just for those who suffer it. We cannot look the other way because our mission is to contribute to a social change that eradicates this scourge, which helps visibility and awareness offered by proposals such as these ", explains the mayor, Joaquín Vela Fernández.
