The Town Hall of Las Torres de Cotillas and the Regional Hemodonation Center of the Region of Murcia have presented a solidarity day of blood donation that will be held next Tuesday, December 3 in the plenary hall of the Consistory.
Both municipal workers and any neighbor or neighbor interested in contributing their grain of sand - the total donation is about 450 ml - to this cause of vital importance for current health care can do so by going from 9:30 am to 2:00 pm provided with the DNI.
"Without these altruistic gestures it would be almost impossible for current medicine to perform such delicate and important tasks as surgeries, transplants, hematological, oncological treatments ...", explains the mayor, Joaquín Vela Fernández, also a doctor by profession.
"It is important to remember that there is a constant need for regular donations, since blood can only be preserved for a limited time and then ceases to be usable."
In addition, those people who cannot attend that appointment will have two more days in the health center to do so: Wednesday 11 and Wednesday 18 December, both from 5 pm to 9 pm.
Who can donate?
It should be remembered that all those between 18 and 65 years who weigh more than 50 kilos can be donors, not being sick on the day of donation and in the case of women not being pregnant or breastfeeding.
In addition, you cannot go on an empty stomach and there is a maximum number of donations per year: four for men and three for women.
Although popular belief indicates otherwise, blood can also be donated: even if the person has suffered from type A hepatitis, if it was before the age of 10;
if you are a woman and you take contraceptives or you are in your period;
if you are diabetic (and no insulin is used =) or if you have high blood pressure and it is controlled.
