Two acts of mistreatment of a disabled person have been clarified, in which one of them was in danger of life
The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia has developed an investigation to clarify a continued case of aggression against a person with disabilities in Las Torres de Cotillas, which has resulted, so far, with the identification, location and detention of seven young people, to those who are credited with the alleged authorship of the crimes of injury, robbery, illegal detention, omission of the duty of relief and attempted murder.
The proceedings began last November, when a citizen reported to the Civil Guard having suffered a series of attacks and coercion in Las Torres de Cotillas by other young people in the town.
In the complaint, he said that while he was in a local park, some of his young acquaintances tied him, presumably, on his hands and feet, leaving him immobilized on a park bench.
Subsequently and through deception, the youth allegedly agreed to his home and, after forcing different locks inside the house, managed to steal some watches, a mobile phone and other objects.
A few days after these events, already in the month of December, the victim returned to appear at the Benemérita headquarters to extend the complaint stating that while he was walking, late at night, he suddenly met one of these young people who threatened him in order to withdraw the complaint.
The situation became more violent and forced him to get into a vehicle, where the rest of the young people were inside.
He was taken to an open area of the Segura river, where, once out of the vehicle, the main suspect pushed him from a height of at least five meters and the victim fell into the riverbed.
The young people abandoned the victim and fled the place.
The victim, who suffers a disability, was forced to leave the water with considerable difficulty, swimming between the hurdles and the weeds in that area, finally getting out of the channel and returning to his home, for which he had to walk more than three kilometers wet and with a fairly low temperature, when the events occur late at night.
Effective Prevention of Citizen Security of the Benemérita, after knowing the facts, initiated the corresponding investigation to verify them and, where appropriate, clarify them.
Once all the necessary evidence has been obtained and the suspects identified, the Civil Guard has established a search device that has culminated in the last days with the location and detention of seven young people, some of them minors, to which they are attributed the alleged authorship of the crimes of injury, theft with force, illegal detention, omission of the duty of relief and attempted murder.
The detainees and the proceedings have been made available to the Court of Instruction of Molina de Segura and the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office of Murcia.
