The Department of Environment and Maintenance of the City of Las Torres de Cotillas are carrying out an environmental awareness campaign, aimed at students in 4th and 5th Primary.
"This initiative is divided into two sections: on the one hand, urban solid waste management (MSW) and, on the other, water saving," explains Mayor Torreño, Joaquín Vela Fernández, who reports that it will take place between January and March, and is funded by Urbaser, a concessionaire of public services for urban waste collection and street cleaning in the town.
This campaign, designed by the Department of Environment, has several theoretical and practical sessions of one hour in the classroom and guided visits to the municipal facilities of the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) and the Ecopark.
The participating schools are the following: Vista Alegre, Cervantes, Joaquín Cantero, Jesús Ferrer, Susarte, Valentín Buendía and Monte Azahar.
"The separation of urban solid waste is a value that must be instilled in the educational center and since childhood, since the waste is constantly reused in nature," explains the Councilor for the Environment, Francisco Fernández Baño, who on the other Side notes "that training and awareness about the use of water is vital because using it rationally is an obligation of all of us, so that the next generations have a habitable world."
