The Holy Christ Crucified and the archangel San Miguel are the main protagonists of the work of the Murcian painter Honás Delgado Sánchez that illustrates the poster of Holy Week 2020 of Las Torres de Cotillas.
This was presented Sunday, February 23, by the Cabildo Superior de Cofradías in the church of Nuestra Señora de la Salceda, in an act attended by the mayor, Joaquín Vela Fernández, and several members of the municipal corporation.
This year the coordination of the poster has corresponded to the Brotherhood of the Holy Crucified Christ, who has chosen his two images for its design.
"In 30 years it is the first time that a painting is presented to illustrate our Holy Week", highlights the President of the Cabildo, Juan José Ruiz, who explains that the painting shows "the two images of the Brotherhood in a beautiful blue sky day before the Church of Our Lady of Salceda, at the exit of one of the processions starring her Nazarenes in black robes. "
During the act, the actors of the Tejuba group participated and the member of the choir Discantus Yolanda Álvarez sang a hymn composed by herself for the Brotherhood, to which she belongs.
The Cabildo Torreño also took the opportunity to present the poster of the children's procession, whose drawing represents the image of the Brotherhood of Our Father Jesús Nazareno and Santo Entierro de Cristo, and has been made by Óscar Pardo Martínez, student of the Jesús Ferrer Master School.
Álvaro Hernández, a preacher
The Cabildo Superior de Cofradías took advantage of the event to announce that Álvaro Hernández Vicente will be the preacher of Holy Week 2020. Doctor of Art History, and Professor of Tourism at the University of Murcia (UM), Hernández Vicente will read his speech on next Saturday, March 28 (8:30 p.m.) in the church of Nuestra Señora de la Salceda.
The preacher, in addition, is a councilor in the current municipal corporation and a collaborating professor in the Department of Art History of the UM.
Likewise, the appointment of Mª Cruz Ruiz García as Nazarene of the Year was formalized.
Very integrated in the local religious life, it belongs to the brotherhood of Our Father Jesus Nazarene and Holy Burial of Christ, where he was president and currently occupies a position of councilor butler.
Finally, the appointment of José Sánchez as honorary president of the Cabildo was announced.
