The municipality of Las Torres de Cotillas will have an urban garden where local associations of functional diversity can grow vegetables, plants, aromatics and fruit trees in order to achieve therapeutic and social benefits among their users.
This green area will be located in the garden in front of the Center for the Elderly (between Cristóbal Colón and Velázquez streets) and is a project chosen in the participatory budgeting process.
This urban green space has a municipal heading of more than 7,200 euros with which a modular recreational garden will be created, a model that allows for a clean and autonomous way an appropriate land for cultivation within the city.
In addition, the elevated level of the modules allows access to people with reduced mobility in a wheelchair, so that educational programs for agriculture can be carried out for schools in the municipality.
"It will be a green, live and educational point of shared leisure in the garden, a great initiative that will bring diverse benefits: from improving the urban landscape, raising awareness of waste recycling by making compost, creating a new place of coexistence, enhancing participation neighborhood through the figure of the volunteer (as, for example, older people who teach cultivation techniques), promote good ecological practices and self-consumption ... ", says Mayor Joaquín Vela Fernández.
