The Las Torres de Cotillas City Council project to create a self-consumption photovoltaic installation in the Pedro Serna House of Culture will save the municipality the emission of about 22,000 kg of CO2 annually.
This initiative, included in the program of Sustainable Urban Development of the European Union, plans the placement of a system that provides electricity supply, which will be divided into two phases: on the one hand, a photovoltaic pergola will be installed in the outdoor car park to provide shade and energy production;
on the other, another installation will be located on the roof of the building, whose good orientation with respect to the south will allow to have a suitable inclination for the maximum generation efficiency.
Each of the polycrystalline silicon photovoltaic panel fields, composed of 92 315 Wp panels, will add a power of 28.98 kWp.
"It is one more measure that from my government team we adopt aimed at mitigating the effects of climate change," said Mayor Joaquín Vela Fernández, who highlights the importance in this task of improving the energy efficiency of municipal buildings.
Also economic savings
This project, whose bid amount amounts to about 100,000 euros, will also allow a significant economic saving in the electrical consumption of this building.
"Together with the environmental benefits, these measures will result in savings of about 7,500 euros a year," said the Councilor for Urban Planning and Environment, Francisco Fernández Baño.
